February 15, 2006 We here at Salty Roots are very excited. Here's why...the original members of our group are getting back together for a one time concert on Saturday, March 4th, in Greenville, SC, sort of a "Band's Reunited" type deal, without all the televised drama. This will mark the first time all of us have shared a stage since December 31, 2001, so it's been awhile, but did I mention that we're very excited! Seriously, if you have the chance, don't miss it. We'll be playing a ton of material from our old catalog, as well as some classic cover tunes, so be there early to soak it all in. Check our schedule page for show time and venue information.

September 1, 2005 All month long Salty Roots will be donating all profits from the online sales of our new album Love In Motion to the American Red Cross to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. If any of you out there were waiting to purchase our new CD, now is the time to buy! For any newcomers to the site, please check out the song clips at either www.myspace.com/saltyroots, or www.cdbaby.com/saltyroots. If you choose to buy, not only will you have some great new music, but rest assured that your money will be used to help out those devastated by this disaster. Just go to our online distribution site, www.cdbaby.com/saltyroots, and buy the album; it's as easy as that. CDBaby takes care of the rest; they have all our sales linked to go into their American Red Cross account. You can also go to their home page, www.cdbaby.com/home, and find us in their "For Charity" section. This is people helping people; your contribution makes a difference. Again, we will not see a penny of this money, it all goes to benefit real people dealing with real pain and suffering. We're happy knowing that you're listening to our music and that the money you paid for it is going to those in need. God bless you all and continue to remember the victims of this disaster in your prayers.

April 15, 2005 At long last the music and graphics for the new album are complete and on the way to Discmakers for duplication. We will have the finished products in our hands and ready to distribute in about two weeks and we will have them for our show May 14th at Upstate Alive, so come out and enjoy some great live music and get your copy. We will also be selling our CDs online through our website and a partnership with CD Baby. CD Baby has carved out a niche for themselves as one of the leading online distributors of music; they are fast, user friendly and highly reliable, so if you can't make it out to one of our shows, ordering online will be the best way to get your copy of the new album. I can't express how excited we are about the new material, Casey Culbreth just did an amazing job on the mix, all the songs sound dynamite. We've come a long way since the last project we did back in 2001, our sound and our songs are stronger and this new material really captures all aspects of the band, from hard & heavy funk/rock to laid back soul numbers to even a little Dixieland Jazz. We would also like to express a huge THANK YOU to Daniel Fairbanks and Soulfood 76 for permission to record a cover of their song "Corduroy" for the album. "Corduroy" comes off of Soulfood's 8 Track album, we highly recommend you own a copy of it. This is just an amazing song and when we complied the new material for the album there was no doubt that this was one song that we wanted on there, so thanks Daniel and Soulfood 76 for allowing that to happen.

February 24, 2005 Album update: The recording sessions for the new Salty Roots album took place through the month of January and ended on February 4th. Since that time the tracks have been in the hands of SC Digital Engineer Casey Culbreth for Mix and Mastering. There will be eleven songs on the record, each reflecting Salty Roots' unique blend of rock & soul. The album will also be featuring Alphaeus Anderson on piano/organ and Marcus Anderson on saxophone. "Alphaeus and Marcus are unbelievable musicians; few people play with their amount of skill and soul. When they agreed to be on the album we were on Cloud 9 for the longest time because we knew that what we were going to end up with would be dynamite" said guitarist John Tucker "They just added so much". For the past few years Al has been, and continues to be, one of the driving forces behind Gospel music in the Upstate of South Carolina, blending the soul of R&B with the sophistication of Jazz and creating truly beautiful music in the process. Marc is fast becoming a star in his own right. Already known throughout the Upstate for his incredible chops on the saxophone, he recently took first prize in the nation for saxophone and has never ceased to amaze audiences with the total command of his instrument. With that said, everything is going along as scheduled and sounding great. Bo Lim and Calvin Hansen are hard at work on the graphics for the album, and all things considered it's looking good for a release date sometime in the middle of April. Further details on the release date and also sound clips of the new songs will be coming soon. For information on how to contact Alphaeus and Marcus Anderson, please email us at booking@saltyroots.com

December 15, 2004 The dates have been set and Salty Roots will begin recording sessions for their new album in early January 2005. The band has spent the past few months rehearsing and writing songs for what promises to be a fantastic record influenced by the band's love of funk, rock & soul. "I'm extremely excited about the new material", said guitarist/vocalist John "Shag" Tucker, "the new songs are amazing and we're going to be bringing in a few of our friends on some of the tracks, so I know this will not only be a fun project, but I'm confident it will also yield some of the best music Salty Roots has ever done." Sessions will be highlighted by the appearance of some of the area's top, up and coming musicians in the realms of gospel, rhythm and blues & jazz. Salty Roots previous album "The Nature of the Groove" was released in the fall of 2001. "The new album has been a long time coming", commented lead singer/guitarist Casey Burnett, "but it'll definitely be worth the wait." The album's tentative release date is late spring of 2005. Stay tuned to the website for further details. |
